Q. Why were engraved labels used in the Datacomms industry first place?
A. Presentation & Cost.
They look professional & before the advent of digital “plate less” printing techniques, engraving was the only cost effective way of making labels with unique numbering schemes.

Q. Are engraved labels more hardwearing than printed ones?
A. No.
Both types are made from the same material with a colour applied to the surface and have similar wear characteristics.

Q. Can the digital ink be attacked thinners, solvents or cleaning fluids?
A. No, it is chemically cured turning from an ink into a polymer & cannot be removed with any of the above, unlike the colour coating on laser engraved labels.

Q. Will the print on the digital labels fade?
A. No, our digital labels are external grade & as such are more UV stable than laser engraved labels which are internal grade only.

Q. How long do you guarantee all your labels for?
A. 25 years or the life of the installation, subject to normal indoor use.

Q. Do the old style engraved labels have any advantages over the new digital version?
A. No, none.
Digital labels are superior in all respects & because there is no engraved recess for dirt & grime to accumulate in are wipe clean & will actually stay looking better for longer.

Q. Have you stopped making laser engraved labels?
A. No, we still supply them if required, for instance for very small orders or on retro fits to match the existing labelling scheme.
